I’m currently going through the court with my ex husband in respect of contact with the kids. I left him in August 2023 due to domestic abuse (can’t evidence as such) and fled to a safe place that he doesn’t know. Tried to contact his mum as initially had no issue with her seeing the children and thought she could help to facilitate contact. She proceeded to block me and haven’t spoken to her since. The children were 21 months and 6 months when I left. And paternal grandma and dad have not had any contact since.
First court hearing yesterday where interim contact arrangements were made- outcome was that paternal grandmother will supervise contact once a week at her house and I have to bring the children there to drop them off. The court is aware of my address.
This means I have to travel a nearly 3 hour round trip with the children every Saturday for the next 12 weeks and leave them in a house they don’t know with two people they won’t remember. The kids haven’t seen grandma since March last year!
It is initially just for one hour for the first couple of weeks and then slowly building up to 4. So am I being unreasonable that I’m not happy leaving them for an hour? I can just imagine the youngest (now 10 months old) just crying hysterically the whole time. He doesn’t like me leaving him as it is with people he does know! And I have no way of communicating with the woman who is supervising this contact! And I don’t think it’s in the children’s best interests to have to be the ones travelling that distance! But if that’s what’s been ordered then I’m starting to think that maybe I’m the one who is going mad and I’m just far too overprotective?
