My 16 month old behaves differently when with me (mom) and with dad
He tends to really prefer dad and that is okay however lately when we are going out together all 3 of us, my child starts to do lots of tantrums like prentending to be hold all the time by dad or if he's playing with dad and dad needs to leave or my child needs to do some other activities with me...he cries like a river. Even if he wakes up at night...if dad goes to calm him down, he will start to pretend he stays there all night or that they have to play. If I get up to calm him, after 2 or 3 rounds of pick up and put down, I usually calm but firmly tell him that it is time to sleep and...he sleeps.
Now I am wondering...is there something bad as mom that I am doing? With me my child is always well behaved - he does some crying here and there but I manage them with no problem. When dad is around...it is terrible. It gets so difficult for me to calm him and often dad has to go away or out of sight. It looks like he is more attached to dad than me as when dad is around, I am sort of invisible. When dad is absent, then my child is all tender again with me. I mean, I am glad he has a good relationship with dad but at the same time I wonder if I am doing something wrong. I am also a bit worried about his tantrum behavior with dad. He spends more or less the same amount of time with both of us.
He's my first child and I come from a very small family so I have no experience with children. :(
