4 month old DD very clingy, crys when not being held....

OMG I am at breaking point

DD is 4 MO and is very very clingy, she will not be left in either her bouncy chair or moses basket or anywhere else.

I am in agony from a nasty bout of mastitis, DH has been dropping hints about the untidiness, which is very unusual for him. But non the less I have told him to f**k right off.

The only way I can get anything done is to put DD in her baby carrier and carry her around with me, even to go to the toilet TMI.

I am doing that as we speak and cleaning, just bent down to pick some fluff up from the floor from the dogs and my back has gone.

I don't think I can leave her to cry!! What can I do?

I'm sorry for your situation, it snot easy can offer no advice, other than what you have already tried. my dd was the same, i used to have her in the sling whenever i needed to do anything, including going to the loo
all i can offer is some reassurance that it will pass, its a very tiring phase in my exp.

Thanks dylsmum, DD doesn't do it to anyone else but me. I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong like going to her pretty much straight away when she cries. So now I leave her for a short while (about 30 seconds [blush) before I give in and go pick her up.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. They can be clingy/unsettled at that age. When they are that young I don't think you can give too much comfort and reassurance!

my dd wouldnt settle for anyone else either- so much so no-one offered to have her for 5 mins. she was really hard work as a baby. i don think its anything you have done ( or i did) my ds wasnt like this, lol nan and grandad were always asking to have him for the day! and i brought up them both. only major diff was dd was bf, but ds wasnt due to latch probs.
i think at this age they are just realising they are not attached to you, and feel insecure and need reassurance. by going to her when she cries you are helping her by offering comfort and reassurance.
its hard work i know, but keep up the good work

DH is off work for two weeks over the easter hols and we are decorating our bedroom (Trying to, at least) and I have had to put DD in her baby carrier and paste wallpaper, lol. She seems to really enjoy it God knows what I am going to do with her when we start painting!! Looks like I'll just have to leave DH to paint on his own
