Pointing at 14/15 months

Hi
My DS is 5 days away from being 15 months.
He is pointing but not at things he wants, only things of interest. Like cars, etc.
Is this usual development?
I’ve tried to encourage him to point for what he wants but he gets upset!

my DS started pointing at 15 months but only occasionally to things that interest him like balls , cars etc.

By 16 he was pointing both to request things he want and to share he’s 17 months now seems to point to request wayyyy more than point to share interests :/ it’s all so confusing but he points that’s the main thing I suppose.
