My 3 year old has struggled with some big life changes recently (baby sister born, selling our home and moving in with family whilst we renovate our new place)
He is showing more and more behaviour that makes me wonder if he may have ASD - this is something I have zero experience with so I don’t know if the following are indicators for ASD and if I should be contacting the HV?
- He has started lining up his toys - he does this with cars, blocks etc
- He often repeats speech from TV shows - eg he got pop up pirate for Christmas and says ‘he’s not popped up yet!’ which is copying Miss Rachel
- We recently went to a different swimming pool to our usual which had slides splash pad etc - he covered his ears and wouldn’t entertain going anywhere near the splash pad, full on crying and pulling away from me
- he’s absolutely terrified of hand dryers
- he suddenly doesn’t want to be outside - constantly says he wants to go home if we do any kind of outdoor activity
I totally appreciate that the life changes will have had a huge impact but if there is something else there then I’d really like to get support in place to help us all.
