Toddler bed or normal bed?

DD is 2 in June and tall so getting big for her cot. Was planning a move to a bed at 2 but wondered if I should bother with a toddler bed or not.

I like the fact they are low but then again I could get a bed guard for another bed. There is already a normal single bed in her room but I don't think I could use it for her as it has no headboard fittings and would therefore be pushed up against the radiator iuswim.

So need to buy a bed anyway. Should I get:
a) a toddler bed
b) normal single with a headboard
c) a single with a bed underneath in case she has friends or I need the space.

I know it's trivial but would welcome advice. Ta X

why not buy a headboard for your existing single bed in her room?

We (well our MIL paid) just got a extendable toddler bed. Starts off small and extends to a single bed and is low. Our 18 month old DD is asleep for the first time in it tonight

It has nowhere to put a headboard - stupid I know but it was cheap when we bought it as our spare bed.

Hmm. I have a thing about toddler beds. I think it must have been a very self-congratulatory board meeting at Childrens' Furniture Inc. when someone came up with the brilliant notion of convincing parents that they have to buy a half-way bed AS WELL as a cot and then a bed.

I can see why people like them, but I cannot see any logical reason for them to exist.

i bought ds a 2nd hand toddler bed a year ago. have just had to buy him a single bed because he's outgrown the toddler bed, save your money!

If you have room for a full sized bed, get a full sized bed.

A couple of my friends have got those Ikea beds and they are good.

I know it's probably a waste of money. I wish I'd bought a cotbed tbh and not had this problem.

May follow advice on here and go for a new bed as will have to buy one eventually anyway I suppose.

yes but then with a cot bed, just as you want to take the sides off for DC1 you need it as a cot again for DC2!

Get a normal bed and then anybody can use it if need be.
