4 month sleep regression?

First time Mum here losing the world to live! My little boy is nearly 5 months old and we are very fortunate that he’s slept through the night since he was 12 weeks old.

HOWEVER……this weeks sleep has hit us like a ton of bricks. He’s waking nearly every hour in the night whining and fussing. He doesn’t appear hungry, he just wants his dummy or some comfort. He will go back to sleep then he wakes again 30 minutes later. We are absolutely exhausted so I just wanted to be sure this sounds like the so called 4 month regression! I’ve spoken to parents and in-laws but they’ve never heard of the regression. I’ve been using the wonder weeks app but technically we should be out of leap 4 by now.

Any survival tips? Will my baby sleep again?! We have been tempted to move him into his own room/cot. I know the guidance is 6 months but he’s just so big in his next to me crib and I can’t help but think we are also waking each other up. Or, he’s banging against the sides.

Hes so grouchy in the day as well and seems so unhappy 🙁 I suspect he’s more tired than usual?

Please tell me it gets better!

Yeah a lot of babies go through a period of having sleep issues at this age. It’s when their sleep cycles change so once he’s through it then his sleep should be better. It’s painful whilst you’re in it, but it does get better!
Our little one wasn’t awful but definitely woke more than usual and wanted to start the day at 4am. So as soon as he turned 6 months we moved him to his own room, in a bigger crib and did some gentle sleep training and he’s slept through the night ever since (he’s nearly 10 months).
Just keep supporting him as much as possible and I promise you it will improve!
