Good morning,
I just wanted to message for some advice, my daughter was treated for Hip dysplasia when she was 3 months old, she was receiving physio and was treated with a pavlik harness for two months. We followed all the guidance and physio exercises given to us after the harness was removed.
My daughter is now 10 months (11 months next week) and she continues to struggle to sit up for prolonged period of time without support (over 10mins), she is not opting to roll on both sides, she cannot yet sit herself up from a lying down position, she is not showing interest in standing or pulling herself up, she is not crawling or scooting. Her gross motor skills are delayed (in terms of everything else communication/social/emotional and fine motor she is exactly where she should be).
I have raised my concerns with my health visitor (my daughter also didn’t score the best in terms of her gross motor skills at her 8 month HV review) and my HV contacted physio on our behalf to ask for advice and they didn’t seem concerned. We have an X-ray and follow up appointment in February 2024 when my daughter turns 1 years old.
I am on a variety of Hip dysplasia forums, however I thought it may be worth posting on here to ask if any other parent’s experienced something similar in terms of a gross motor delay after hip dysplasia treatment. I totally appreciate families may not wish to discuss their own personal experiences, I wholeheartedly respect that, I am just a bit worried as I only know a very small community of parents whose children have/had Hip dysplasia.
many thanks,
M
