Putting newborn down to sleep

Hi all,

Currently have a 3 week old who is a Velcro baby! When trying to put her down at night she will cry and be unsettled and then sleep as soon as she is in my arms. I bought the purflo sleep baby bed which has good reviews but she doesn't seem to like it.

I love her cuddles but I am getting 0 sleep because I darent fall asleep when she is on me. I have looked into co sleeping but this isn't something I feel comfortable doing and I would much prefer her to have her own sleep space as I am a deep sleeper.

Any recommendations welcome. Thank u x

It’s totally normal at this stage and something you kind of have to work your way through. I’d recommend taking shifts with someone else eg partner / family member or friend who can help out. That way you can get a couple of hours of sleep whilst someone else is with her.
Keep practicing putting her in the crib - eventually she’ll get used to it, but she has to learn it’s somewhere safe. When you place her down do you put her slowly with feet first and keep your hand on her body for a bit so she still feels you? Have you tried swaddling / not swaddling? My little one like being swaddled for a few weeks and then didn’t like it anymore and slept better with his arms free.
As it’s cold at the moment she might also be waking at the temp change when put down. After being warm and snuggly with you then going into a cold crib it might be a bit if a shock. Could you try putting a hot water bottle to warm her crib and obviously removing it before placing her down.

Have you tried swaddling or love to dream sleep suits? Worked a dream for us.
