Wonder weeks - your thoughts?

What's everyone's thoughts on the wonder weeks app regarding developmental leaps?

My baby is suddenly very unhappy, crying all day, clingy, doesn't like to be put down or picked up 🙈 but according to the wonder weeks app she should have come out of leap 4 last week which says is the most difficult one. She is 21 weeks old today so well passed the leap according to the app.

I didn't notice any change in her at all until the last few days when she started to have a sniffle. Then just progressively got worse. She was sleeping well and now up every 2-3 hours.

Could be teething perhaps but I'm struggling to tell if that's what it is.

Just wondered if other people followed these leaps or if it's a load of rubbish!!

My baby never seems to really line up with the leaps, like he’s doesn’t seem to be following them, always a few weeks out. I’ve not really ever used it but I know a few parents who have and really follow it. I kind of think if you are looking for your baby to be having a leap that affects sleep then you’re just more aware of disturbed sleep rather than it actually being any worse, if you get me.

I used wonder weeks and found my little girl’s fussy phases didn’t really line up with the app, but I could tell when she’d gone through a leap by the skills she’d developed. I think it’s useful as a reminder that they go through periods of intense development which can make them fussy, but perhaps less useful in terms of exact timings as they all develop differently. My little girl also started waking every couple of hours at about 20 weeks and I think it was four month sleep regression, as she went back to sleeping normally after 3-4 weeks. Though if your little one has a sniffle it may be that that’s making her fussy / affecting sleep x

Rubbish.. children develop at their own pace

Thanks everyone that's really helpful!! It's nice to hear that other peoples children didn't line up with the timelines on the app. I was actually dreading leap 4 but then everything seemed ok.

BUT I believe we've hit the 4 month sleep regression (at nearly 5 months 🙄) as we were up every hour last night!!!

Just when I thought I'd got away with it. Send help!!! 😂😂
