Hello all,
This has probably been answered before but I have a bit of an issue that others might not have...
I have IBD, it's a chronic illness that I take medication for and I have a limited diet. It's not under control, yet. Some days are worse than others. I've tried five different medications in the past year.
I wasn't able to get help for it until about a year ago. Long story...
Sometimes I need to be very close to the bathroom. Sometimes I just don't eat because of GERD. Sometimes it's pretty clear that I am having stomach trouble and no matter what I can't pretend that I am not.
So, my four year old has started saying she's sick and her tummy hurts on a regular basis. It's generally when she wants attention. I've tried telling her that she can ask for a hug rather than saying she's sick but I don't know what else to say or do. Any suggestions?
For those who have chronic illnesses did you explain it to your child? Does your child imitate you? How do you handle it?
Oh, and I know she's not sick. She'll say she is then run around in a circle, giggle, laugh, play and ask for a snack.
