TV and young children

I have an 18 month old granddaughter. When my son & daughter in law visit we are not allowed to put the television on until my granddaughter goes to bed - approx 8.00pm. They are coming to stay over Christmas for 5 days. I usually put a film on or watch TV while I am cooking. I know she will get very stroppy if I do this, but it is my house and I would have thought that if I want to watch TV I should be able to do so. It is not as if she does anything at all when they are here, just wanders around looking at her phone and letting my granddaughter do whatever she likes, empty my cupboards pull everything off shelves etc. I have to lock and put away everything before they come. As much as I love my granddaughter who is, to put it mildly, a bit hyper it is beginning to get to me. I am overreacting or do I also have rights over the Christmas period.
