14 mo not responding to name

Hi,

We are first time parents and have just had our 14 month check up with our HV. Our son is walking and babbling away, he will say mama, dada, baba and duck. However, when he says mama and dada he doesn't necessarily associate it with ourselves. Also, he doesn't respond to his name or pay much attention when we are speaking with him, it seems as though he just wants to walk or run about and do his own thing. When we tried to give him a pen to draw, he just didn't seem interested, no matter how many times we tried. He will interact with us and he will sometimes pay attention to what we are doing. Our HV doesn't seem overly concerned at the moment and wants us to keep an eye on it. I just can't help but feel guilty and anxious over this. Has anyone else gone through anything similar or can give me some advice?

Thank you!

So we've had similar with DC2. Do you know what he scored in his assessment? It's usual for them to be in the grey in a couple of things but more than that then she should have referred you.

Do you know if she used the 14 month Ages & Stages?

And has she referred DS for a hearing test and to SLT?

If she's using the "wait and see" approach, has she said when she wants to assess him again?

Hi yeah she used the 14 months ages and stages and he scored in the grey are for problem solving and communication. But in the white area for everything else. She did say everything he is doing is age appropriate and she's not overly concerned at the moment. She will be back out in April to assess him again and if things haven't improved then she will refer him then she said.
