2 year old repetitive behaviours - should I be concerned?

Hi all

my little boy has some odd behaviours that I never used to pay attention to, but now he’s getting older they are starting to stand out more and I’m becoming more and more concerned..

he jumps all day, and I mean alllll day.. on the sofa, on the floor, while he’s playing, when he’s standing still, when he’s excited.. you name it he’s jumping! And he’s recently started to flap his arms while he’s jumping usually when excited!
he gets really upset and distressed if something doesn’t go his way or he gets told to stop doing something he’s not supposed to be doing.
he copies other children in everything they do.. for example what they eat, what they say, noises they may make, if they have a hat on he wants one on etc etc
he also has stopped playing with toys in a normal way, he is very repetitive in his play sometimes.. however he does role play and has a very good imagination with games and stuff.
he has no concentration at all and will only focus on a task for few minutes before he gets bored or distracted and moves onto something else.. he is never still, literally never still.. unless he’s asleep!
he does however enjoy playing and being with other children.. has a very good vocabulary and understanding of words and instructions and communication is good

should I be worrying about these things or are they relatively normal? Any one else experienced these things or can offer advice?
thank you in advance

Just wondering how the old he is? Is he just 2 or almost 3? And does he go to any firm of Childcare?

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto he was 2 in July so he’s 28 months and he goes to pre-school two mornings a week x

I think some of the things you mention could warrant further investigation. For instance the constant jumping could be normal or it voted be sensory seeking. Do you have a small indoor trampoline and does he use that?

You've said that his speech and understanding is at a good point so that's really good.

I think if I were you, I'd ask to speak to the Nursery Manager and ask them if they have any concerns over his behaviour. If they do, I'd ask if their SENCO can observe him.

I'd fill in the 30 month Ages & Stages and the 30 month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages. I'd call your HV, tell her that you have some concerns like the arm flapping and bouncing and ask her to score them both for you. Using both together will govern her a clearer picture of what's going on and if your DS needs some extra support Flowers

It sounds normal to me.

They do repetition a lot, and wanting to be like others is the beginning of social interest etc.

He sounds lively but so do a lot of 2yos.
