5yo DS is in reception. Has made a 'friend' who he repeatedly tells me:
- won't let him play with anyone else
- is mean at lunch time
- Says mean things and bosses me about
- when friend was off for a day last week DS told me he had a really fun day because this 'friend' wasn't there
DS is energetic and bright but definitely a more passive character. Obviously this friend is quite dominant.
I've spoken with the teacher a few weeks back who said they'd try to pair them off with other kids to play so my DS gets a chance to play with others but he's still saying the same things.
I realise my DS needs to develop some assertiveness and resilience type skills. I'm trying to work on this.
Has anyone had a similar situation or got any advice please? I've gone back to the teacher this morning. I don't want to be a nuisance but I do want DS to be comfortable at school.
