Yesterday my DD all of 6yrs started complaining about painful nipples...I felt them and she actually has a little bud in her right one...I've noticed for the past couple of weeks she has been very stroppy, uncooperative and down right rude at times, banging doors, stamping and bad-looks galore!..lol...she has always been very sensible for her years but now I'm a little worried...I explained briefly to her what may be happening and she seems fine about it all (much better than me!)...I'm going to visit my G.P just to give her a check up and get more info...I just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar...or has any advice...(worried emoticon)

If you can listen to teh Jeremy Vine show on Listen Again feature of BBC site, they were talking about this issue yesterday. Very informative. 6 is young so you'd be right to take her to teh GP just to check. Apparently, once puberty is complete (not exactly sure when that is, have to say), you stop growing. I didn't know that. So one concern for precocious puberty is that you may not grow as tall as you potentially could. But can all be dealt with if it is that. Hope I've not worried you by saying taht.

I remember when dd2 was about 2 yrs old, I took her to the doctor because I was sure she had precocious puberty (I had read an article in a magazine and I was convinced), she didn't have it and I'm sure he thought I was mad! The signs of pp from what I remember, arfe much more extreme than just little breast buds, but I couldn't tell you exactly what the signs are.

I think your dd sounds very normal. It's normal for there to be a little bit of breast tissue adn the moods sound so familiar, my dd's are very moody, dd2 never used to be but she really has changed into a stroppy teenager adn she's 6 coming 7 so there may be something happening around that age.
I wouldn't worry too much about your dd.

My daughter has just been diagnosed with precocious puberty at the age of 2 and a half. The signs are breast tissue growth, pubic hair, definite behavioural issues. My daughters behaviour is much worse than my other two daughters at yhe same age. She constantly bites, pinches, scratches, smacks. Even random people. She needs alot of one on one time and care as she can be destructive to her other sisters. She is now receiving injections for the next 8 years and three monthly hormone testing bloods. She is doing well with the injections considering. We are STILL waiting on an mri scan done on her brain to rule out any issues with her pituitary gland.....all I would say is if you suspect anything like this push everything with docs paediatric consultants as they fobbed me off saying it was over active breast tissue!!!
