My son has recently started secondary school. He is very bright and all was going well for a moth and a half and now it's started to go downhill. He's coming in from school saying he has no homework but lo and behold the tears start when he gets told off at school for not doing it. DH and I are tearing our hair out. We asked him the other day if he had any issues, why he wasn't using his homework diary as this worked well for him in the beginning etc. Got him to take out his homework diary and lo and behold he had homework due in the next day. Cue the tears and staying up until 9pm to get it done. He actually got it done easily so I don't understand what the issue is. If he does sit down to do something, he just sits and stares and takes forever to do what is quite simple homework. This goes on every night.
There is tension every night as we have to be on his tail to get the work done. I would understand if it was difficult stuff but he can do the work, it just takes hours to do, which is exhausting for everyone. DH and I both work and we have another child (younger) that we have to deal with.
It has ended today that DH found a bottle smelling of pee in his room, after going to his room because he was supposed to be practicing his trumpet. Of course, he was reading a comic. He said that he pees in the bottle because we are nagging him to do stuff but the reality is that we are just trying to get him to do the bare minimum. (Trumpet was DS choice). What on earth is going on with him?
No bullying at school from him and the teachers - they say that he could do better academically in school - say that there is no bullying. Why has he suddenly changed? He loves his school so I have no worries there.

How was he with homework on Prinary school @Allen789?

He was okay, no problems. I get that it's a step up from primary but it's all been quite easy and the school have eased them into the work.
