My daughter keeps saying she misses her “sister” but she doesn’t have one??

Hi just wondering if any others have had the same experience. My daughter 3 keeps telling me that she “misses her sister” but she is an only child.
I was pregnant before but miscarried at 10 weeks.
I have explained that she doesn’t have a sister and she seems to understand that, nevertheless she told me again tonight at bed time that she misses “her sister”.

has anyone else had this or something similar? Any advice on how to approach it?

I would talk to her more about her 'sister'. It's likely it's akin to an imaginary friend. Maybe ask her to describe her sister, what's her name etc, how long has she been around and that might help you work out where this has come from. It's not really necessary to tell kids that their imaginary friends aren't real, it's best to just go with it and she'll grow out of it soon x
