Not answering yes no

Hello! I have already posted about it 3 months ago. I would like to know if someone has had something similar happening to their toddler and how it evolved.

My LO is 22 months old and exposed to 4 languages. However he only speaks one of it (italian). He speaks a lot , has many many words (more than 300) and some easy 2/3 words combinations.
He can follow commands very well (novel out of context one step and few related 2 step commands).
My questions are about his way of responding to questions.

He responds well to where, who and what questions (eg who gave you this, what color is X, what are you eating etc). He is also able to make choices(also on verbal clues only) like do you want x or y.
However he does not answer yes no questions much.
If I ask him do you want a juice he will either ignore me if it is a no or reapeat juice in an exited way running to the fridge if it is a yes. So he does understands the question but not how to answer.
I get yes nodding and no head shaking as a response very rarely ( he must be very motivated to answer yes or no).

A speech pathologist friend told me choosing between x and y is more important than answering with yes or no at his age. However, I don't see any toddler his age (I don't know so many) not answering yes no questions.
Have you had similar situations? If yes when did they start using yes no?

Hello! Op here. My LO started to answer yes no questions shortly before he turned 2. Now he is very consistent in it. What helped was a little game where I asked him things like: is it a dog? Yes or no? (Showing him a dog/cat etc). And just asking a lot if he of do you want questions. I was giving him stuff only after he said yes.
