4.5 year old bedwetting

Hello,

I’m after some advice on 4.5 year old DS and his bedwetting. He started school in September and since then he’s been having HUGE wees in his sleep 4-5 nights a week (not always on school days). I’m assuming it’s linked to starting school as prior to this he was dry at night for about 8-9 months with only the very occasional accident.

We obviously can’t control how often he goes to the loo when he’s at school but we reiterate to him that he needs to make sure he goes for wees and his teacher said he does go (although he likes a teacher or TA to go with him). We make sure that he’s not drinking loads after school and he doesn’t have anything after dinner at 5:30pm.

He’ll have a wee straight after school, usually before dinner, before the bath and again after story before going to sleep but he’s in such a deep sleep that he doesn’t wake up to go for one. He’s up needing a full pj and bed change, and sometimes a wash almost every night which isn’t good for any of us.

Did anyone else experience this and can offer any advice? 🙏

Very common to regress with school start and nothing at all to worry about. I would put back into pull ups and revisit things during Christmas hols. Plenty of kids (especially boys) wet the bed beyond the age of 4, you can get night time pull ups in Lidl and Tesco to fit age 8-15, that's how common this is.

Having similar issues with my son been told it’s normal! Keep him comfortable in pull ups/nappies that won’t leak and wait for them to grow out of it!
