Addicted to screens

Son who is 8 has potential ADHD we are in the process of getting him assessed. He has no interest in doing anything other than watching a screen or kicking a football about. I’ve tried so many things to broaden his interest and I can get him doing other things if I sit with him and keep him on track and engaged with it, but the minute I leave him alone he is trying to get on a screen or kicking a football around again (for the record I’m more than happy for him to play football and would much rather that than the screen) but I’d really like him to do more with his free time, and do something other than those two things for the times when he has to amuse himself. He isn’t into toys or arts and crafts or drawing or reading unfortunately. I’m stumped, he’ll play board games but i can’t sit with him all day plus we feel he has to learn how to amuse himself some of the time. He doesn’t really do well with imaginative things bless him, he’ll play role play games lovely with his older sister when she directs him but she’s getting to an age where she doesn’t really want to do this so much. Has anyone got any ideas we can try? Other than football- which he is obsessed with, he has minor interest in the Amazon rainforest and sharks, but he wouldn’t independently read a book about them. He enjoys a game called tetra tower where you stack Tetris shaped bits of plastic, he’ll play that for short bursts alone, so I guess I’m looking for ideas of similar things to that? Thanks
