Hi
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place please point me to the right area if it Is.

My son is on the pathway for ASD assessment - I know the waits are typically long.
Back in January we called for a update and was told it should be around this December/ Jan '24 so I've had that in mind probably clung onto it too much tbf.

Im looking to see if anyone can provide insight to timelines from their experience from the time they recieved the following :

Back at start of September I received a text from the referal system apologising for the wait and asking if he still needed to be on the list.
I have today received a letter apologising again and stating their is significant waits currently

I am not sure if these are automatically sent out once been waiting a certain amount it time or is it a hint that he's near top of the list ?
Anyone experienced similar or did these letters/texts mean nothing other than they whrer still a million miles away from the appointment

Thank you

I think you've been lucky to have the communication. DD was referred in November. She was triaged in Feb, her age means they are hopefully rushing her through before she comes under adult services. We've not heard a peep out of them since Feb although thankfully they did prescribe Melatonin then so DD is more relaxed, which has helped enormously.

I was told to have had a responce within 6 months was a miracle. However when I spoke to them to get an update for when my child will be seen, they could not say and just said an appointment will be sent out 2 weeks prior to the appointment. So could be end of this month (originally was told) or could be next year who knows.
