5 weeks old. Fed, burped, changed and cuddled, still she cries, why?

Quite possibly simply because the world is very hard and strange when you're so new at it. It's bright, it's cold, it's noisy, you have to breathe and feed and burp and poo and wee. The world is obviously amazing, too, but some babies take the transition a bit harder than others.

On the other hand, it could be something fixable. How's her sleep? Lots of babies have an inconsolable crying period later in the day when partly it's just that they're getting worn out and it's all too much. Is she feeding and gaining weight well? Any sign of tummy troubles, difficulty getting wind out (either end)? Is she sick a lot or show other signs of reflux or silent reflux? (DD2 screamed most of the day and night until we found the right medication for her reflux, but once we did, it was night and day.)
