Introvert 6 year old getting more introvert

I've noticed a change in my 6 y o DD recently. She's always been a little bit reserved with her friends at times, a thinker, not one to be the center of attention but generally happy, likable, keen to make friends and extremely kind. She's never been clingy and positively discouraged me from joining her on playdates, outings etc.
Just recently and especially since she's started year 2 I've noticed a real change in her. She's seems to be well withdrawn and clingy not wanting to join in so much. She cries at almost every party she goes to at some point and is often wandering around on her own. - like she doesn't fit in (maybe she doesn't???)
I've asked her several times if everything is ok to which she says yes but I don't think she is. Today when I dropped her off at school she sort of hung back as if she was a bit scared but when asked said she was ok.
She's an only child so I think the rough and tumble can be a bit overwhelming??? and she doesn't know how to cope with it.

To my eyes she's a lovely little girl but maybe not so charismatic / outgoing as some of the other kids in her class and I've noticed she's the one who the others seem to not bully but speak badly too or is last to have a go at something or even ignored.

Neither my partner or I are extrovert and I have to admit I feel socially awkward most of the time so I'm not sure if she's picking this up from us??
I'm just not sure what I can do for the best for her
