My dd has just turned 12 and for the past year or so her behaviour has been horrendous.she is spiteful, selfish, has an answer for everything yet still expects to be given everything.i never would have dares speak to my parents the way she does to me I'm at a loss because I find myself arguing with her all the bloody time and don't know what to do anymore

You have my every sympathy @bird87. For us the start of High School and puberty

I found the book Untangled very helpful and the Preteens Section on MN is usually supportive too Flowers

@bird87 my daughter is the same. Shes 11 1/2 but has been like it for a good year now...shes always been pretty challenging tbf. She's brilliant at school but at home she's moody, defiant, rude and ungrateful. I feel i cant do right for doing wrong and we argue quite a bit as i cant bring myself to ignore her behaviour. Everyone says its hormones but if that's the case hormones have come a long way since i was 11! As you say, would never have spoke to my parents in the same way. Wish i had an answer x
