Feeling low about it.

Ds1 face full and i mean full of scratches from ds2. ds2 attacked a boy in play area today - i saw him doing it and he turned round with a look of enjoyment on his face it was a horrid moment.

He then slammed ds1 into a door and ds1 ear has ballooned and is badly bruised.

I sit ds2 on chair when we are out and talk firmly about his behaviour, why it is unacceptable and he has to say sorry to the hurt child. This i do at home too, and ban him from a treat - he is bright so understands this is a punishment, only then does he get upset and cry. He almost sings "I Sooweee(sorry) DS1" he is so unbothered and used to the routine.

Friend said maybe it's the level of epilim he is on (10mls a day so not that much), that it has gone from controlling his seizures to making him hyper.

He is a very lively boy, 70% of the time a dream and lovely. But it's getting terrible the other 30% and i am forever watching him when we are out and seperating ds1 and 2. Ds1 loves the rough and tumble, but it's getting beyond that.

Anyone had similar things happen and can give advice please? should i take him to doc and if so what will they be looking for? What help could they be?

TIA

sorry I'm not sure what epilim is prescribed for?
also how old is he?
your poor ds1 though, sounds awful...

posieflump · 06/03/2008 12:22

oh sorry realise now he is 3

I've no expereince of epilim but my ds is hyperactive and I have heard that Epilim can sometimes cause hyperactivity or worsen hyperactivity in children who were already hyper. I think you should have a chat with your GP about it.

posieflump · 06/03/2008 12:30

also are you still in touch with your health visitor?

TBH am being wimpy re the GP. dont want him to say DS2 has anything else wrong with him causing the outbursts.

HV not contacted me since last year, but am sure i could see her if i contacted her.

Am gonna have to bite the bullet and see GP i think.

Thanks for all your answers.

I would take him to the doctor. As an epileptic who started on Epilim, i found it left me very spaced out and disorientated(sp?), definately not hyper.

my dd2 is on epilim - slightly more per day than your ds (she is 2.8. she doesnt seem to be hyper at all, but thay doesnt mean that it doesnt have that effect on your ds. i would talk to your gp perhaps give them a call?
