Does teething cause snot?

My 18mo DD has just had a molar through, and it's coincided with her sneezing quite a bit, accompanied with an absolute avalanche of snot every time (sorry)

No other cold symptoms apart from an occasional cough. No temp. Just wondering if this is a classic teething symptom in people's experience or if I should be bracing myself for another cold.

Hi, there!

From personal experience with my little one, I would say definitely yes! And anecdotally, friends with similarly aged tinies have said the same. When I looked it up (e.g. NHS), it says that it’s not medically a sign, but with almost all her teeth, particularly the molars, she’s ended up with a cold for a few days.

Hope your little one feels better soon!
