Still got milk teeth

Ds has just turned 7 and still has all his milk teeth.

Everyone in his class has lost at least two. Even children two years below him in school have lost teeth.

He’s getting down about it and impatient. I’ve told him it’s better to keep milk teeth as long as possible but obviously he just wants to have a gappy smile like his friends!

What is the latest teeth can fall out? Is it ever a problem?

At just turned seven, I'd probably give it a few more months. If they're still not at all wiggly at 7.5, it might be worth getting a check up with a dentist to discuss it, as it can sometimes indicate problems that do need dental help. That said it can also be completely normal – I didn't lose my first milk teeth until seven (and didn't lose the last canines until 18!), and I had no complications. My teeth just took their time.

My daughter lost her first tooth at 7yr 9 months.

I would say however, that it showed the first sign of wobbliness 3 months before that, and the adult tooth had erupted quite a lot behind it by the time it actually fell out.

edited to add that she was slow to get her milk teeth in the first place - first one at 15 months, and that I was the same.

Dc will be seven in three months. No wobbly teeth yet.
He's a bit smaller in size. Not sure if any connection.

I am due to go to the dentist soon anyway so will book DS in too. He’s quite average size for his age, but seemed a but later getting his teeth than other babies in toddler group/his cousins etc. On his first birthday his two first teeth were just coming through. So maybe that has something to do with it!

My oldest lost his first tooth a week before his 8th birthday.

Youngest now 7.5 and no teeth coming out yet.

No big deal I'm confident they are both fine
