There was a thread on here a while back about kids playing dogs...

I have to add mine to the list of those that enjoy this game

(IIRC, a poster had read some very dubious 'research' that suggested abused children play at being dogs. MN wisdom blew this out of the water)

Walked into the lounge to find DD1 on all fours over a bowl of "doggie food" (dry wheat puff things)

DD2 closely behind lapping a bowl of water

I drew the line at letting DD1 put a dressing gown cord round DD2's neck

They both enjoyed harassing the cat as part of the game

It went on for HOURS! Sound effects and everything!

Not now Saint Bernard!

DS does this - but I put it down to the fact I have 2 dogs! but he does the whole water/food thing (over their bowls thou - not v good!) and slurps the water up from the floor if he spills it - lays down and all - not good!

DD has been a dog, a cat, a dragon, a cow - you name it. All of which seem to involve eating off the floor. God knows what researchers would make of her

Saint Bernard -

We hven't even got a dog. Nor has anyone we know.

Bizzare, eh?

Mine tries to persuade me to be a dog as he is copying Charlie and Lola. He insists that our friends' dog is caled sizzles(actually called dipsy!)
Mind you he spent all afternoon flapping his arms and running round Tier park(animal park) being a bird!

davidtennantsmistress · 04/03/2008 22:14

I reckon it's how they learn (at least that's what I keep telling myself)

dd2 has a friend (also 9) who just constantly pretends to be a dog. To be specific, a dalmation. Runs round my house barking. Drives me mental.
