Possible adhd in 5 year old?

Curious to know if any of your DC were flagged for add/adhd very early on?

My son who just turned 5 in May has been flagged by his school as potential adhd tendencies. He is disengaged in school and appears not to be listening but he isn't disruptive. He was like this in reception and now starting year 1 he is the same his new teacher mentioned.

He has also struggled with reading / phonics and tends not to be interested. By his own admission he is 'the only one in the class who can't read'

We got him a tutor over summer to help him with the phonic and reading and writing to help him get closer to the learning goals and the tutor did also point out that he is very easily distracted but also said he is young and may grow out of it, and that other kids are also struggling with attention at the moment.

He's very intelligent though and asks lots of curious questions so I have no doubt he is clearly a bright boy.

I just wondered if anyone had been in this situation with their DC at such an early age and what came out of it.

Any insights or experiences greatly appreciated.

I limit screen time and have been giving him equazen.

My DS has ADHD, mainly inattentive, and he does seem to be in a different place sometimes. He too can struggle with something that he's not interested in.

If you think it's ADHD, are you giving him small tasks that might help him get a dopamine hit? So things like, let's see how many of these we can do in minutes!
