Excited arms/stimming

My Ds 5/6 months has started wanting to stand quite a lot and isn’t as happy sitting on you. He is making very excitable arms and pursuing his mouth and making oo sounds, like he is very excited or overwhelmed. He is very smiley and giggly. He makes eye contact, follows sounds, responds to name. I just can’t help but worry, has anyone else’s baby been through this excited arm stage etc? Worries it might be stimming

@1stimeMum2b

my DS has been flapping his arms since about 9 months old he’s 13 months and still do it.

like your DS he’s very excitable and happy baby has brilliant eye contact , responds to his name and has about 6 words and sounds with meaning so I try not to worry to much about it ( even though it’s hard not to sometimes) iv also been told numerous times it’s quite common for babies and toddlers to flap? My DS flaps when he’s excited or frustrated or when he’s waiting for his dinner I’m guessing because he’s hungry

5/6 months is still really young

@Raeleigh24 thank you so much for sharing and your reassurance- as long as they are happy I suppose that’s all that matters 😊🙌❤️

@1stimeMum2b

no worries

To say it doesn’t make me worry sometimes would be a total lie BUT he does so much that makes me not worry it’s really hard to explain.

but yes along as they are happy and I’m sure they will be fine ❤️

Mine is 5 years old and still does it. She did it in front of her behavioral psychologist who laughed when we asked if it was concerning. Not a big deal.
