Wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this. My daughter has been diagnosed with DLD (developmental language disorder) which has taken a long time to get the diagnosis. She's seen GP's, ENT specialists, speech and language therapists, educational psychologists. We are relieved to finally get an answer and the speech and language therapist is completely sure it's the right diagnosis.
Then a few weeks ago I had an odd conversation with my child's teacher who commented she thinks my daughter could have down syndrome (or mosaic down syndrome) based on the fact she has almond eyes (she has slight epicanthal folds due to a flat nose bridge). This completely threw me as my daughter has no physical features that would have triggered me or anyone else she's seen to suggest DS. Bearing in mind she's seen ALOT of specialists, I'm surprised they wouldn't have said something. It's really hard when someone sews the seed to switch off from it, but I feel very reluctant to go prodding and poking around with tests.
I'm really not sure what to do, but wondered if anyone has any advice ? Does anyone have a child with almond eyes or folds?
