I think my 8 month old has an obsession with the film Alien

After all sorts of sleep hassles he has now decided that he will only go to sleep if I place my hand over his face with my fingers splayed like the first alien thing in the film alien. He grabs my hand and holds it there and pushes down so that slight pressure is applied. If I move my hand he grabs it back. This is now the only way that he will go to sleep.

Has anyone else come across this? Its bizarre. DH thinks he might have headaches??!!

Mine does exactly the same! How bizarre! I thought my ds had some kind of fetish. It started out that I would stroke down between his eyes and nose to help him get off to sleep, but he started grabbing my hand and holding it over his face. I think he sniffs it to reassure him I'm still there.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Posted this on behaviour too and the general consensus seems to be that it is smell. I feel very strange doing it though!
