Teething

My DD (8 months) has been under the weather for a few days - whining more than normal / clingy, looks off colour, has suddenly developed bad nappy rash.

I've been thinking oooo poor thing she's teething (her first two teeth look like they're just about to come through).

I told my mum and she said (quote) 'don't be silly teething doesn't cause any problems. You remember your big teeth coming through don't you, it didn't hurt did it?'

IS my mum losing the plot (she's had 4 kids she should remember about teething)? Does teething hurt? What symtoms of teething have your LOs had?

my dd gets crabby for a day but i know other babies who get diabolical nappies, slight fever, red cheeks etc.

i thin it must at least be uncomfortable at teeth are pushing through tissue for the first time. permanent teeth are rising through already broken ground so wouldn't hurt.

i think your mum is wrong on this one
