My 3 year old won't leave the house

So my 3 year old loved going outside all the time but the last week or so he really just won't go out. He has a massive tantrum, won't have his shoes on, screams no and runs away. It used to be when it was raining but now it's all the time. He doesn't even want to go out into the garden. We've tried giving him choices with things like what shoes, which car shall we go in, shall we do this or this? Nothing seems to be working and I just don't get what's wrong?

I've not come across that one before. What does he do if you try to get him to go out and he then stays in? Is he doing something he really enjoys?

We've been through this a couple of times. I think the biggest was last year at 3.5 where he really didn't want to leave the house. He had a winter onesie he would put on when it wasn't a nursery day and every morning we'd have a meltdown that he wanted his lute (otherwise known as suit) on. We eventually had to remove all the clutches he had to staying at home, by always getting dressed in the morning, removing the suit entirely ect. He's not an overly confident little man and struggles in social settings so we know where it comes from.

How about your DS, what is he like with other people? Different places ect?

Thanks ladies for your responses. I think we have figured it out now. He had his preschool jabs a couple of weeks ago and it was a delayed reaction to it. He's feeling better now and has been going outside.
