5 month baby development - head lag

I am extremely worried about my DS he has just turned 5 months old. He has head lag at 5 months which I didn’t even think about until someone had pointed it out to me. I had previously around 4 months seen the gp due to ds having a head tilt. Gp referred to physio the appointment has just come now. But I am so worried as I have been reading regarding head lag at this age :(

so I have been doing the pull to sit with him and he doesn’t help at all. He also has clenched fists still quite a lot but then does open, as he can hold toys bats at toys on his play gym, plays with my hair while breastfeeding. Currently contact napping on me and fists are open.

I wouldn’t have worried until someone pointed it out and I ended up on google scaring myself. He does seem a bit wobbly when you pick him up. He doesn’t weight bear on legs, in tummy time he can hold head 90 degrees, brings his feet up plays with tjem. Has rolled both ways (but doesn’t anymore)

has anyone got any experience with head lag this late? I’m just so anxious

My little girl is 5 months old, she’s got really little head control however was born with a large head (37.5cm) all checks have been done on her head when she was born to make sure there was no fluid however she’s really struggling to keep her head up & is still like a newborn when holding her under the bum, she also isn’t grabbing out for things just yet, however she is fully engaging with eye contact, rolling back to belly, hands in mouth constantly, belly laughing. My little boy didn’t even roll over until he was 7 months but he did grab things & hold his head. I just wondered if it will come to her with a little more time or if I should be really concerned?

@Beth05111994 if your concerned at all I'd see the HV and ask her to do the 4 month Ages & Stages Assessmentt*. It's quite normal for them to score in the grey for a couple of things but anymore than that and I'd be asking for Physio, Portage and maybe a referral to a Paediatrician Flowers

Hiya @MummaFayy, I had my 16 week check 2weeks ago and baby had head lag, baby is meeting most milestones however still hasn’t done a belly laugh and doesn’t seem to weight bear through legs if I hold him upright, how did your app with physio go? Any updates?

Hi @MummaFayy just wondering how things are going? My baby is five months and also has a head lag. Can't stop worrying. The health visitor was useless, wouldn't even come and look at her, said should wait until she's six months old. Interestingly enough she also, like yours, has a head tilt which she had physio for.
