Mine are 7pm (6&4), DS2 reads in bed till about 7.30pm.

Flaming - but sorry if you child is watching TV until 9.30 then they aren't actually active and doing anything that requires concentratiom. If they didn't watch TV, they would get knackered earlier and get a good nights sleep (11-12 hours). And just because they go to bed earlier doesn't mean that they will get up earlier. That is my opinion anyway.

morningglory · 28/02/2008 19:28

DS1 is 4.3 and goes to bed at 7:30-8. Wakes up between 6-7am. Used to go to bed by 7, but t hat changed about when he turned 4.

DS2 is only 3 weeks old and sleeps constantly. He is not an early waker (yet), and I have to wake him at 6;45 am (after his last feed at 2am).

mumwhereareyou · 28/02/2008 19:30

6.11 in bed for 7pm lights out by 7.30, up at 8am.
4.8 in bed at 7pm lights out straight away up at 6.30am
3.2 in bed 7pm lights out straight away up 6.15am.

Have tried putting to bed later but they still wake up early. Also hubby is a postman and up at 4.30am so we tend to go to bed just after 9pm, i'll read or surf in bed and he sleeps.

dejags · 28/02/2008 19:31

DS1 is nearly 7 - he goes to bed at 8 and sleeps until 8 or 9 (sometimes later)

DS2 is 3.5 - he goest to bed at 7 and sleeps until about 7 (sometimes he goes earlier - last weekend, he fell asleep at 5.30pm and slept through until 7.30am)

DD is 9 months - she goes to bed at 7 and sleeps until 7/7.30.

morningpaper · 28/02/2008 19:32

I must admit I don't let mine watch telly before bed

You can't tell how tired they are when watching telly, they just prop their eyes open

MrsMattie · 28/02/2008 19:33

Mine have never gone to bed before 8, and now DD 10 goes between 8,30 and 9 and DS 12 is 9- 9,30. Tonight both are going at 9

They are usually up around 6.30

mumtoone · 28/02/2008 21:21

DS (4yrs) and DD (8 months) both go to bed around 7pm. They are usually awake by 6.30am. DD still wakes most nights for a brief spell and she naps for around 2 hours in the day. I would love them to wake later however they both seem to be early risers!

amytheearwaxbanisher · 28/02/2008 21:25

my ds 2.6 goes to bed at eight usually asleep by half eight wakes at nine but sometimes has to be woken at half nine must add he wont nap for me so thats why he sleeps so long

I appreciate you probably did not direct your post to me. My dd 4.7 does not watch TV until 9:30. She just wants cuddles from dh and I, to have us read books to her, or colour, look at photos. As for going to bed earlier means not waking up earlier, we clearly have different children. Dd does not tend to sleep longer than 10.5 hours total. If she goes to sleep early for whatever reason, she WILL wake up earlier - tried and tested. That is why on weekends, we let her stay up to that we get a lie in the next morning.

Othersideofthechannel · 29/02/2008 07:24

We don't let the children watch TV before they go to bed but they are extremely concentrated when they DO watch TV.

legalalien · 29/02/2008 12:04

blue shoes - mine is the same, almost down to the minute (put him to bed 10 mins early, he will wake 10 mins early).

ibblewob · 29/02/2008 19:34

DS 2.4 goes to bed between 7-8pm, wakes between 5.30-7.30am, has between 0-2.5 hours nap in between. Routines are not my strong point at the mo!

Christywhisty · 29/02/2008 22:48

What I forgot to add was whatever time DS went to bed he would still wake up 6 -6 30 and would find it almost impossible to catch up on lost sleep, so weekends he wouldn't go to bed any later than week days.
DD will lie in if she is tired but is much harder to get up in the morning, if she has a few later nights.

Thomcat · 29/02/2008 22:51

Mine are 6 and 2 and go to bed at 7pm.
They get up around 6.30 / 7am but we get up at 7.30 on a weekday and 8-8.30 on a weekend (they currently share a room).

lounan · 01/03/2008 00:20

ds1 6yrs bed at 7.30pm-7.30am
ds2 7months bed at 7pm-8.00am
both have always been good sleepers like their mother

thyme · 02/03/2008 17:36

my 15 month old goes to bed at 7pm and then wakes hourly til 6am.Tried everything.I'm still smiling.

mumofhelen · 02/03/2008 18:15

My 1 year old has 12 hours sleep at night with 2 hours nap during the day time. Total: 14 hours.

My 3 year old has 10 hours sleep with 1 hour nap during the day. Not much I believe.

mom2latinoboys · 02/03/2008 18:56

ds1 (2.5 yrs) and ds2 (9 months) both go to sleep between 7-7:30 and both wake up between 7-8 am. Ds2 would also sleep all day if I let him.

roisin · 02/03/2008 19:01

DS1 (10) goes to bed at 7.30, lights off 9 pm (10pm weekends and holidays).
Gets up 7.30 am school days. c. 10 hrs sleep.

DS2 (8) bed at 6.30, lights out at 7.30. Gets up 7.30 am school days. c. 11 hrs sleep.

tazmosis · 02/03/2008 20:42

DD1(3.7) 7.30 til 8am
DD2(2.6) 7 til 8am (but she does wake up once at 4.15am but goes straight back to sleep...)

chocolateshoes · 02/03/2008 20:49

DS (2.7) goes to bed sometime before 7 - prob 6.45 when I come downstairs and will usually get aup about 8.15am. This morning he slept in til 8.40 - he must have known it was mother's day! he laso sleeps 2hrs 1-3pm.

micra · 02/03/2008 20:51

DD 5.5 and DS 3.5 in bed 8.45pm awake about 6.45am, sometims earlier, often wakes once in ngiht too. Can shift it a little forward or back with loads of effort, but always bang on 10 hours sleep. This is every night, every week, every month, all the time. I guess if they needed more sleep it would eventually catch up with them, and it doesn't. It's balance between time to snatch some time to ourselves (ie get jobs done!) in the evening, and not being woken up too early in the morning, or too late for work. One pair of cousins the same, other sleep 7pm till 7am unbroken. It's the luck of the draw.

Eulalia · 02/03/2008 21:25

My dd is much the same - she seems to need much less sleep now she is 5.10. when she was 4 sometimes she needed 12 hours and I was often waking her for nursery. Now at school she just doesn't seem tired and often its about 9.30 - 8 am same as emandjules. Main other reason we leave it so late is because ds1 (8) has autism and only needs about 9/10 hours per night and I don't want a huge gap between children going to bed. ds2 (2.5) just fits in between.

I have to say I am always amazed at anyone's child who can sleep more than 12 hours and for some toddlers to have daytime naps as well! My 2 year old will only sleep 12 hours max in a 24 hour period.
