DD has end of stories 7:15 and lights out 7:30 and usually dead to the world by 8pm.
Wakes at 7am and we have noticed that if she messes around and goes to sleep later than 8:30pm she is a NIGHTMARE next morning, wakes at usual time in bad mood, strops, cries at the slightest thing...she must get her sleep!

cybermonkey · 28/02/2008 17:12

DS 2.5 between 7 and 7.30 DD 1y between 6.30 and 7, she will wake about 7.30 and then goes for a sleep about an hour later (incredible sleeping baby) DS has 11 hours and will not nap in day - he has never liked sleep, dreading when he gets older and needs less.

FAQ · 28/02/2008 17:15

DS1 (7) goes to bed at 8pm wakes up anytime from 6.30-8am (usually gets up around 7.30)

DS2 (4) goes to bed at 8pm wakes up around 8.30 (unless woken by DS1 as he gets up)

DS3 (9 months) goes to bed at 8pm usually wakes up around 6.30-7am

sazb · 28/02/2008 17:20

my ds whos 3.5 goes to bed at 6pm has a story and is asleep (most of the time) 630pm.ive tryed putting him bed later but he still get up around 530 6am.

MozzybearBaileysIce · 28/02/2008 17:33

DS (15mo) bed at 7ish, wakes anything from 7 - 9am, usually after 8, unless mummy and daddy are both at home trying to get a lay in like this morning when its nearer 7. Also sleeps about 90mins during the day.

Wish I could get Rainbow

emmaagain · 28/02/2008 18:25

Everyone in my house goes to sleep when they are tired and gets up when they are ready

We tend to go to sleep at roughly the same time as offspring, and then either I have a lie in, or get up before anyone else for that wonderful quiet early morning time.

I don't really get that "children in bed hours before parents and then not to disturb them before X am" thing - but then, I love to spend as much time as possible with my family!

sazb · 28/02/2008 18:32

emmaagain.its not that people dont want to spend time with family etc etc,its all about getting them to bed so they have enough sleep to develope (sleep is very important to development)and if kids dont get enough sleep they are very grumpy etc etc etc.

sazb · 28/02/2008 18:32

excuse spelling.

princessosyth · 28/02/2008 18:36

Ds (3.6) goes to bed between 7.15-7.30pm and gets up at 7.00am.

lupo · 28/02/2008 18:36

agree with emandjules, ds 3 and a half, goes to bed about 9/9.3o, and is never awake before 8am, prefer this to 6am starts and dh gets to see him in the evening

emandjules · 28/02/2008 18:42

it suits me as i work normally 2-8pm so can sleep in and still see dd when i get in

morningpaper · 28/02/2008 18:44

my dd is 5 and sleeps from 7-7

(although DH is away today so I told them it was 'very late' and they were both asleep by 6.30 )

emmaagain · 28/02/2008 18:44

Oh I'm all for everyone having enough sleep! But our lives are sufficiently flexible for us not to have an adult-imposed schedule, so everyone goes to sleep when they are ready rather than because it's "bedtime". We are very lucky

morningpaper · 28/02/2008 18:46

(I have to wake mine - they wake naturally around 8 at weekends)

morningpaper · 28/02/2008 18:47

I get pissed off with children by about 6pm

I like to tidy them away so I can relax

sazb · 28/02/2008 18:50

emmaagain.god you are lucky i used to let my lo go to sleep when he was ready sometime 930 1030pm but unfourtunatly he still got up at 530 6am and was a very very grumpy and very naughtly little man.so didnt work for me

spugs · 28/02/2008 19:03

dd1 whos 6 almost 7 goes as soon after 7 pm as i can get her to (more like 7.30pm) and she gets up at about 7am. dd2 who is 22 mths goes at around about 6.30pm and sleeps till 6.30/7 am though she sometimes still wakes during the night and needs tucking back in.

lupo · 28/02/2008 19:13

Lol morning paper

NomDePlume · 28/02/2008 19:17

@ 9.30pm for a 5yo

DD - 5yo goes to bed between 7 - 7.30pm and gets up at 6.30 (we leave the house at 7.30am)

DS2 - 14yo on a school day goes to bed at 10 - 10.30 and gets up at 7am (again, we leave the house at 7.30am). Weekends he goes to sleep when he wants and, on the whole, wakes when he wants.

DS1 - 15.5yo same as DS2.

Hulababy · 28/02/2008 19:19

DD is nearly 6y. She goes to bed, on a school night, around 7:30pm. She wakes about 7am ready for school.

At weekends she often goes to bed a fair bit later. She almost always sleeps for about 11 hours, so for us a late night means a lie in

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 28/02/2008 19:21

DS2 age 2 years 8 months in bed 6.45pm to about 6.45am. Sometimes he sleeps later.

DD age 4 years 6 months in bed by 7 and up same time as her baby brother.

DS1 age 6 years and 11 months bed between 7-71pm and awake by 7.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 28/02/2008 19:21

7.15pm

Pastarito · 28/02/2008 19:24

9 yr old: 9.30/10pm. In bed earlier but not with light out. Sleeps until 7.30am.
5 yr old: 8-9pm. Sleeps until 8ish.

The kids seem to get enough sleep so it works out ok, even though their bed times are a bit late.

Othersideofthechannel · 28/02/2008 19:25

I love that expression 'tidy them away'!

DS is nearly 5 and DD is 3. We aim for 7pm but it is more often than not 8pm because we don't get home from school until 5pm and there just isn't enough time to do everything in 2 hours.

They sleep 11 hours, DD has an hour's nap at school.

blueshoes · 28/02/2008 19:27

dd 4.7 needs about 10.5 hours sleep, like emandjules' dd. She will try to postpone her bedtime to as late as 9:30 pm mind you. My dcs don't really seem to need much sleep compared to other babies.
