At what age did your dc stop becoming disruptively excited about coming events?

DS2 has always got very excited and worked up about forthcoming events.

I remember not that long ago the fortnight before Christmas was just a complete-write-off, because he would get so hyped up and exhausted, not sleep well, get up early, think about it (and jabber on about it) constantly.

I thought we were passed this. But it's happening again.

He's playing a lead role in the school play and he's performing in a music festival the same week - but both are still naerly 2 weeks' away, and he is beside-himself with excitement. And really struggling to cope with day-to-day life.

How can I get him to chill?

How old is he again roisin?
Is there any scope for increasing his levels of physical activity so that he is good and tired at bed-time?
That is a lot for a child though I think I'd be borderline hysterical
Ds is, er, like this quite a lot of the time anyway, especially at bedtime.

He's nearly 9 Marina.
I just can't wait til it's all over-and-done-with!
I'm not going to the music festival, because I would be too nervous

I used to be like this and what really helped was for someone to stop what they were doing and listen to me and get excited with me for 5 mins or so and then guide me on to something else. Also, with christmas, generating crafts to do with christmas were just fab as it meant i could be all christmassy etc for hours on end and it kept it all going for me. I don't know if there's an equivalent for music festivals???

Try to enjoy this - I know it must be exhausting but your little boy is showing a huge amount of positive energy and that can only be applauded.
