How affectionate is your toddler?

Just trying to ascertain what's normal - my 17 month old DD is seemingly not very affectionate, but I'm not sure if it's something they 'learn' or if it comes naturally. She will snuggle me when tired or in unfamiliar situations but lately I've tried to give her a hug and she's literally picked up my hands and pushed them away 😂 (I know - needy much?!). She was with my friend's 3 year old today who tried to hold her hand and cuddle her and she just stood there and looked at her like she's mad, and my friend commented on her lack of affection. She also doesn't ever give anyone kisses. Is she just too young for this? I will caveat by saying she will try and kiss and cuddle absolutely any animal she sees, so it might just be she doesn't like me 😂

How is she in other ways @Winnipeggy? Is she meeting her milestones? Is her speech and language on track?

Yes she seems fine in all other areas, she's just starting to say a few words and lots of animal noises etc...she's running around, great hand eye coordination and understands 90% of what we say to her. It may just be more in my head but I always had that vision of a toddler running up and throwing their arms around you and lots of kisses etc, but I guess all babies are different. (FTM if you can't tell!)

If she's meeting all her milestones and does seek your comfort when she's tired or unsure, then I'd guess it's just personality, or at least her personality at this stage. You might find she's very cuddly when she's a bit older, or maybe she'll always prefer other forms of affection.
