Our 7 yo had some anxiety before christmas. Usual tummy ache problems but then she started not wanting to go into school having previously never had any sort of issue. It got quite bad but we worked through it and over a few months it got better, and everything settled down.

Towards the end of the summer term it started to get bad again, she was very wound up and upset a lot of the time. We thought it might just be being tired and the summer holidays would help. However, its got ten times worse. She not doesnt want to do anything. Leave the house, see friends, get on the bus. Were challenging her do something out of her comfort zone everyday but I now feeeling very worried. We bought a couple of books, but has any word experienced similar. If so what helped?

I know people will suggest some kind of neuro divergence as a possibility, but Im pretty certain thats not the case. She has no other traits or behaviours that would suggest thats the case. I think its just straight up anxiety, but I just dont know how best to handle it.

My first thought was that she might not be happy with the Teacher but if she's finished the year, that might not be the reason.

Isn't she showing any other symptoms of being ND at all?

Literally no other signs. Shes really sociable, does well at school, has friends. No real quirks at all. But shes obviously finding something really stressful.

We sort of got to the bottom of it a bit the last few days. Shes really worried about being sick away from home. Some kids were sick in the classroom and I think its sparked a real fear in her. I dont know if that was the cause of her being anxious the first time round. But this seems to be the cause of this bout of anxiety.
