Hi all, I’m just looking for other mamas thoughts as I’m such a worrier. My son is nearly one (in a week) and I worry so much about his development. I try not to let it take away from me enjoying him and I do block it out but as soon as I’m not busy or he’s in bed I just think about it. The main things I’m worried about are

he doesn’t point/wave/show
Doesn’t often answer to name
Tip toe standing/walking (can stand flat footed)
Gives eye contact but doesn’t hold it for long.
No major separation anxiety
Loves lights/the tv
Doesn’t take steps when holding his hands but can weight bear and is cruising around furniture.
Watches his hands when dirty and brings them to face, but only when eating/sitting at his high chair.

The things he’s doing great at

Babbles
Crawls
Pulling to stand
Cruising
Claps/will clap when asked (mostly-unless distracted)
Makes connections with toys (banging a drum/pressing buttons)
Loves toys
Affectionate/loves cuddles and kisses
Laughs and smiles a lot
Great with food
Great sleeper
Looks for your reaction at times
Looks peek a boo and can do this himself with mats/blankets.

I really need to learn to stay off google because everytime I go on everything seems to point to ASD.

Does anyone have any advice/reassurance? thanks so much!

Keep in mind when you're looking at developmental milestones, it's usually end of month that matters.

So, your son might be 1 in week or two, but all the 12 month milestones are relevant when full 12 months have had past. So, if you're worried about 12 month milestones, that date is in four-five weeks.

it's worth checking with baby's doctors, though

Hi @Boymama123 hows your little one getting on now?

@Mumof3bb1 Hello! He is now 22 months, started walking a few weeks after I wrote this, it came from nowhere! He points all the time to show what he wants and to show things of interest! Waves and shows me things all the time too! I still suspect some neurodiversity because although he does babble he has yet to say a single word, he did stop babbling for quite some time but it’s back and hopefully he will progress to words. He also still doesn’t answer to his name, we are awaiting a hearing test but I believe he can hear. There are also a few other traits which I believe made lead to an assessment and/or diagnosis down the line.
