Growling words

My DS has just turned 2 , he can say many words , lots of animals, can say the words in his little flash card packs but they're all said in a throaty growl.
The only clear words he says in a ' normal' voice are Mumum and dada.

Has anyone else's little one speech been like this ?
Do the throaty growl words still count as words ??

Health Visitor has been contacted but waiting for response.

How does he score on this SLT progress checker?

It said No and to call ! So at least I've got the ball rolling with health visitor . Maybe a little speech therapy will help, bless him

Ok so I'd contact the HV again., if you can't get hold of her do they still do a drop in session where you can get them weighed and ask questions?

It sounds like he needs a hearing test, just to rule out glue ear an assessment by a SLT and the HV should really do the Ages & Stages assessment with him

They do I'm sure ! I think it's on a Wednesday so if I don't hear back I'll take him!
