Hello!

At what stage should I get this checked out?

He says Mama and Dada but never in context. He does babble away all the time and is very vocal.

The only word he possibly says in context is 'cat' but misses the t.

No other concerns about any aspect of his development and he's the happiest/craziest little boy.

My DS didn’t speak much, at 2 years old he passed everything apart from speech, didn’t think we had a problem, but soon realised we were doing everything for him, he would point to what he wanted and made a sippy sound when he wanted a drink. Health Visitor was concerned and said she would contact us again at 2 1/2. We stopped doing everything for him and made him ask for things, he soon was talking away properly and when health visitor rang she spoke to him on the phone and they had a conversation.

Thank you @Mindymomo - I think maybe he doesn't feel the need to talk because he just goes and gets what he wants, and always has done? 😂

Just in case anybody comes across this thread and looking for answers in the future, it's been 2 weeks since I made this post and he now says, mama, dada, cat, duck, yes, no and ta!
