won't sleep in cot

Hello,

Don't know if this is going to turn into a problem or not so thought I would ask.

My 12 week old will not sleep in her cot in the day time and usually will only sleep when held and occasionally in her chair. She is clearly very tired, however as soon as she is put down begins to cry.

a. Is this a problem
b. If it is, then how can I get her to sleep in her cot in the day

I am not so bothered, but she will be going to nursery at some point in the future and I think they will want her to have her day sleeps in a cot or on a mat.

Thanks

Until very recently I have been rocking dd to sleep during the day in her pram. Just in the last week or two, I've started to be able to put her in her pram and just let her fall asleep there. Because I want her to know the difference between night sleep and day sleep I'll continue to let her sleep in her pram for a while yet - I think ds was about 6-7months old when he started taking naps in his cot.
Tbh, babies will sleep wherever you want them to if you persist - sometimes it takes a while and lots of tears. But your dd is only tiny, so don't worry yet...

My 7month old DS will have the morning nap in his cot then thats the lot! He screams if you put him up in his room at any other nap time, so I just make him nap in the pram in the utility room! I wouldn't be bothered as long as he has some form of day sleep does it really matter where? Im sure at nursery your lo will settle into that routine.

She'll get therer eventually - ds took ages to learn to nap in his cot. I'd always put him down there to get him used to it but he was 5 or 6 months before he'd have a full nap in it. We were co-sleeping at night which probably didn't help.
