Noticed recently that my 3 year old nearly 4 always flaps her arms when she get excited, is this something to worry about she is also very sensitive to smells. Apart from that she is well developed she’s very chatty interacts well with children just these 2 things have got me worried a bit.

My DD has always been an excited arm flapper. As a result her preschool has been aggressively directing us towards an assessment for ASD, which she had and conclusively does not have ASD. She is seeing a behavioral therapist and psychologist who have witnessed the arm flapping and stated it was not anything to be concerned about. If you’re worried, always worth getting it checked out, but arm flapping can just be excited! I mention the school because it’s been an ongoing battle for them not to try to convince us she has ASD, despite medical professionals conclusively saying she is not neurodiverse!
