22mo rejecting me/upset, after weaning?

Has anyone experienced similar - my 22mo baby has only just stopped breastfeeding (about a week ago). He woke up from his nap yesterday and was just laying in his cot, he didn't want to be picked up. As the minutes went by he started to whine a little, but didn't want me to pick him up and kept batting me away. It escalated and I took him out of his cot but he seemed really distressed by me, and was rolling around on the floor crying a lot. It was almost like he didn't recognise me. I had to work really hard to regulate myself and not panic. He only calmed down when I took him into the sitting room and put cartoons on.
His language is great and usually chats away as soon as I go in to get him up. It was horrible! 😢
Pics for happy thoughts, of him being happy today at music group, and us at the last breastfeed!

Happened again today. I'm guessing we're just seeing the effects of missing the boob. Hope it passes quickly.

Honestly it could literally be anything, it's not necessarily the weaning. He could be cutting his back teeth or getting a cold. Don't beat yourself up about it Flowers
