Accidents/bed wetting at 6

Hi,

My eldest has just turned 6- he has no additional needs but he has always struggled a bit with bladder control. He’s never been dry at night and even with a nappy on at night he still often floods the bed (maybe 2-3 times a week). We’ve tried restricting drinks towards bedtime etc.

But whilst he’s how much better in the day he still regularly has accidents. Sometimes it’s definitely he just doesn’t want to go to the toilet but I think even then I think he struggles to hold on before getting to a toilet. His brother who is 2 years younger than him is dry at night and has an accident once in a blue moon so we’re getting increasingly worried.

Any advice/resources/reassurances you could point us too?

So sorry that you're struggling. I haven't got any experience but just wondered if you posted in SN Children you might get a few more replies?

Mine were like this. Oldest was a nightmare not really fully dry daily until 7. Night time 8.5.

Youngest was a bit better but still accidents at 7.

It isn't SN just some take longer if you aren't concerned about anything else with his development I would just ride it out with the patience and washing machine method.
