My 2 year old keeps pulling hair out when falling asleep.

My daughter keeps pulling hair out and then fiddling with it whilst in cot before she falls asleep and sometimes when she’s in her car seat when she’s tired. She’s a very happy chilled child my nature, and when she’s pulling her hair out she’s not distressed its almost like it’s soothing her.

I don’t know what to do as her hair is now obviously thinning. I have tried comforters but she just throws them out of the cot.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

@CC90 Hey there! We are dealing with the same over here, and I was wondering if you'd made any advances? Hope it's improved! I'm finding it very stressful, as I'm sure you are/did.

@KatyMcGhie my 19 month old is doing the same and it’s awful, she’s pretty much bald on one side now so has started to pull other areas, I’m worried she going to end up completely bald, I’ve tried everything I can possibly think of and just no luck. She’s a thumb sucker and alternates between sucking her thumb and pulling her hair.

@Norie so sorry to hear that. We are now rocking ours to sleep. It’s not fun, as she was sleep trained and so good as sleeping, but she pulls her hair out and eats it to fall asleep. I’m pushing for a behavioural therapist via the GP, so fingers crossed.
