Child anxiety. Help!

Has anyone got any experience of their 4 (almost 5) year old suddenly become severelt anxious?

My son who starts school in September has suddenly become very anxious to the point we are struggling to get him to eat anything and it's worrying us out of our minds.

For context he has been at nursery for 2 years and we've never had any problems with him going in, even when he first started going he never worried and would go straight in without even saying goodbye.

The last week or so we've had him saying he doesn't want to go, this morning being so bad that he started to gag when I wanted to get him dressed. Managed to calm him down and he said he doesn't want lunch there so I've agreed he can go in after lunch today but again this seems to be food association.

Yesterday we had a family bbq he was running around absolutely fine etc until food was put in front of him and he suddenly became a nervous wreck and didn't want to eat it (gagging again) once the food has all gone away he was fine again and running around with all the other children and you wouldn't know any different.

Has anyone got any advice on this?

This was obviously posted a while back now, but I’m going through a similar thing of anxiety around eating (because of a fear of being sick). Any advice welcome.
